GOAT COLOSTRUM FAQ
ABOUT GOAT COLOSTRUM
What is goat colostrum?+
Colostrum is the first milk goats produce around the birth of their baby goats. It provides their earliest nourishment and naturally contains nutrients, antibodies, and other bioactive compounds.
Is colostrum the same as goat first milk?+
Yes. Colostrum is another name for first milk. Our capsules contain this ingredient in gently freeze-dried form.
What does goat colostrum contain?+
Goat colostrum naturally contains proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, immunoglobulins (antibodies), lactoferrin, and other bioactive compounds. Its composition varies naturally. For product-specific information, refer to the label or contact us.
Why do people choose goat colostrum?+
People choose goat colostrum as a way to include this dairy ingredient in their diets. Betula offers it in capsule form, with pure goat colostrum as the filling.
How is goat colostrum different from cow colostrum?+
Both are first milk, but they come from different animals and have different compositions. Betula’s Adults and Kids products contain goat colostrum only, with no cow colostrum added.
Who are Betula products intended for?+
Our range includes colostrum for adults and kids. Choose the product appropriate for the person taking it and follow its label directions.
SOURCING & ANIMAL CARE
How does Betula work with its farmers?+
We maintain close relationships with the farmers who supply our colostrum. Knowing where the ingredient comes from and how the goats are cared for is an important part of our approach.
Do the goats graze freely?+
We source our colostrum from farms where goats graze freely and have access to varied pasture vegetation. Animal care is an important part of our sourcing approach.
Do the baby goats get their colostrum first?+
Yes. Baby goats come first. Only surplus colostrum is collected after they have been fed.
When is the colostrum collected?+
Our colostrum is collected within the first 24 hours after the baby goats are born. This early collection window is an important part of our sourcing standard.
Can I trace the colostrum in my bottle?+
Yes. Every Betula bottle carries a LOT number that identifies its batch. Each batch may contain colostrum collected from up to 30 farms. Enter the LOT number on our Trace Your Batch page to see the farms associated with your colostrum.
PURITY & PRODUCTION
How is Betula goat colostrum made?+
After collection, the colostrum is frozen and gently freeze-dried to remove moisture. The resulting powder is then hand-filled into capsules.
What is freeze-drying?+
Freeze-drying, also called lyophilization, removes moisture from a frozen ingredient under reduced pressure. It allows us to turn colostrum into a powder without using high-temperature spray drying.
Is Betula colostrum pasteurized, homogenized, or defatted?+
No. We do not pasteurize, homogenize, or remove the fat from our colostrum. Laboratory testing is part of our quality control process.
Do you add fillers or other ingredients to the colostrum?+
No. The capsule includes 100% goat colostrum, with no fillers, preservatives, anti-caking agents, or other additives. The capsule shell is listed separately on the product label.
Why are the capsules filled by hand?+
Hand filling allows us to fill each capsule with colostrum without adding fillers or flow agents to assist automated filling.
Are the capsule shells vegetarian?+
We use vegetarian capsule shells. Each capsule contains goat colostrum, a dairy ingredient. The shell ingredients are listed on the product label.
Is the colostrum tested?+
Yes. Laboratory testing is part of our quality process, including microbiological checks. Contact us if you would like information about the testing associated with a particular batch.
What makes Betula different?+
Our approach brings together ethical surplus collection, early sourcing, gentle freeze-drying, hand-filled capsules, batch identification, and laboratory testing. The capsule filling contains one ingredient: goat colostrum.
How should I choose a goat colostrum product?+
Look for clearly stated ingredients, sourcing information, collection timing, processing methods, and testing. Check whether the capsule filling contains pure goat colostrum or a blend, and review the label directions and allergen information.

How much should I take, and when?+
Follow the directions on your bottle and take the capsules with cool water. Do not exceed the recommended amount. Ask your healthcare professional if you have questions about when or how to take them.
Can I take colostrum for an extended period?+
If you plan to take colostrum for an extended period, ask your healthcare professional whether continued use is appropriate for you, especially if you have a medical condition or take medication. Follow the product label.
What if my child cannot swallow capsules?+
